EXCITED walkers are gearing up to get back out into the country to enjoy a riverside walk.
After months of closed footpaths, due to Buckinghamshire County Council's foot and mouth policy, the countryside is open.
And to celebrate the Chilterns Chalk Stream Project and Chiltern Society are joining forces on Sunday for a walk along the River Misbourne.
Organiser Sarah Bentley explained the walk was especially important because it was not that long ago the Misbourne was one of the country's lowest flowing rivers.
She added: "With stunning views of the valley between Shardeloes Lake and Little Missenden, this circular walk offers the opportunity to learn more about wildlife and history of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
"The walk will celebrate the return of the Misbourne following years of low flows."
Walkers who want to take part in the hike should meet at the old road down from the A413 to Shardeloes, grid reference SU947978, at 10.30am.
Booking is essential so call Sarah Bentley on 01844 271308
