A 14-YEAR-OLD boy had three convictions overturned in court after the prosecution investigated claims he had been wrongly accused.

The teenager, from Chalfont St Peter, was originally found guilty at Wycombe and Beaconsfield Youth Court on June 18 of riding a motorcycle uninsured, failing to wear protective headgear and having no licence on November 12 last year.

But on Wednesday, the appellant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had his case listed for mention in his absence before Judge Christopher Tyrer at Aylesbury Crown Court, who said in open court: "He has appealed against the conviction on the ground he was not the person involved.

"I am told in a letter from the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) the matter has been investigated and the boy's alibi has been found to be a correct one.

"Accordingly the Crown does not oppose the appeal because it appears the person convicted was not the person who committed the offences, and all three convictions are set aside."
