STAR readers have helped a minibus appeal meet its first landmark of £10,000.

Star readers, local companies and members of the community have been helping to raise thousands of pounds to replace the Thames Valley Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied Club minibus burnt out by vandals last year since the appeal was launched just before Christmas,

Star readers alone have donated more than £600, with some individuals offering £200.

Kim Rose, appeals co-ordinator, said: "The response from the local community has been absolutely staggering as you can see from the figures, but we still have a way to go."

Many local companies have boosted the appeal.

"We had many, many other donations from all sorts of people, organisations and companies too many to list individually, added Kim.

Thames Valley PHAB need to raise a further £30,000 for the new bus and are hoping Star readers will be able to help again.

They are also looking to boost the appeal further by being awarded a lottery grant.

Anyone who would like to donate some money to the fund, send a cheque made payable to the Thames Valley PHAB Minibus Appeal to Kelly Clayton, Star, Gomm Road, High Wycombe, Bucks HP13 7DW
