RUNNER Jane Jennings is finding it difficult to train for the London Marathon because the foot and mouth crisis has closed down the county's countryside.
Jane, 34, of Church Road, Lane End, works for the National Farmers' Union and used to spend her spare time in the gym and at aerobics classes, and can now be seen pounding the streets in an effort to get fit.
But her training is now limited to public roads after the closure of footpaths, commons and bridleways.
Jane is spurred on by the need to raise money for the Rural Housing Trust, a charity which works with rural communities to provide affordable housing for local people.
She said: "I have never run 26 miles before but I am absolutely determined to get to the finish even if I have to walk.
"Maybe the Princess Royal will be able to offer some words of encouragement when I see her in Hambleden."
