MAY I, through the pages of the BFP, thank all those people who helped to convey the electoral messages leading up to last week's elections.
The BFP was especially good in its coverage, as was Radio 1170.
But the biggest thanks goes to those who voted Green despite the fact that our candidates were unlikely to get elected through the first past the post' system.
The Green vote in Wycombe constituency increased by 44 per cent (74 per cent if you take into account the lower poll!).
It is a great fillip when people vote with their hearts and their consciences.
Our vote bodes well for when proportional representation finally arrives for parliamentary elections when we will get MPs elected who will put the sustainability of our environment top of the country's agenda.
Another big thank-you goes to all the Green Party supporters and members who knocked on doors, delivered leaflets, donated money and helped with the administration.
A final thank you goes out to the other four candidates who were charming and friendly when I met them at meetings or on the street.
I wish Paul Goodman well as our MP and hope that he will take a few Green ideas with him to Westminster.
I have now stood in the Wycombe constituency three times and probably will not stand again.
So, thanks to everyone, I enjoyed my campaigns immensely.
John Laker
Green Party
candidate for
Wycombe constituency
