A PHOTOGRAPH of Marlow Rugby Club players in sister paper Midweek prompted Manager Andrew Sanderson to contact the Free Press with news of the whereabouts of his old comrades.

Mr Sanderson, communications manager for Marlow Rugby Club, said they were snapped in front of the St John Ambulance Headquarters in Marlow in October 1980, before one of the charity stretcher races.

The club competed in five similar events during the 1980s but have not held one for a number of years.

And pub landlord Bob Robson, 53, of the Prince of Wales, Marlow, remembers the fun they had competing against other pubs in the annual stretcher race to raise funds for St John Ambulance.

But the search is on for the lady who was carried by the strapping players.

"Our club used to run for The Ship pub in Marlow and it was quite a big charity event with many other teams going all out to beat us," said Mr Robson.

"It was a lot of fun but we used to take it quite seriously as well I still see quite a few of the boys around," he added.

Anyone who recognises the lady on the stretcher or the man on the far right can contact Memories Reporter Michelle Fleming on 01494 755151.
