PLANS to develop a website for Chesham Town Council are to go ahead after councillors found a way to do it at no extra cost.

Town councillors had to shelve plans to create a website earlier this year because of financial constraints.

It would have cost in the region of £3,000.

But now two Chesham-based companies have come forward to help.

The Croxsons Group, based in Moor Road, and BPC Magazines, of Eskdale Avenue, are willing to build and maintain a website at no cost to the council.

The companies want to fund the website in a similar way to Chesham's town guide with cash generated from advertising banners which will appear on the site.

Cllr Alan Bacon (Lib Dem, Lowndes) said the council was pleased.

He added: "This is being done in a different way and we are all very keen to do it."

A recently published Government White Paper is encouraging local authorities to improve the delivery of services to the community through the development of a website.
