SUPER furry animals were judged at a guinea pig show on Sunday at Bledlow Ridge Village Hall.

The show, organised by the Chilterns Cavy Club, at the village hall, Chinnor Road, featured about 85 guinea pigs, or cavies, of all coats and colours, vying to be judged as best in their standard.

Secretary Catriona Rowland explained: "There are about 28 to 30 breeds and each guinea pig has its own standard.

"Whichever was nearest to the standard was judged to be the winner."

Judge Ian Cinderby had a very difficult task in choosing the different winners.

"He gave out lots of rosettes," Mrs Rowland said.

She added that judges have to go on special courses before they can arbitrate at guinea pig shows.

The cavy club, which is in its second year, has shows twice a year at the village hall as well as at the High Wycombe Show in September.
