FURIOUS residents will be voicing their concerns to a local MP over proposals for a massive extension to a town centre supermarket.

The proposals for a 2,216sq metre extension to Sainsbury's in Maxwell Road, Beaconsfield, were deferred at a meeting of South Bucks District Council's Planning and Transportation Committee last Wednesday.

The expansion will mean the building of a double-decked car park, which residents claim will block light from their back gardens and mean their properties will be overlooked by shoppers.

Derek Morris, of Garvin Avenue, Beaconsfield, who has been elected as the residents' spokesman, will be meeting Beaconsfield MP Dominic Grieve today.

He said: "None of the residents wants it. None of the council wants it. So why are they considering it?"

Mayor of Beaconsfield Malcolm Dunlop said the town council was against the plans.

He added: "We feel that the added nuisance of an extra roundabout and the nuisance to the neighbours of a second tier to the car park, are both things that we do not need."
