TWO young girls were rushed to hospital after they were in collision with a car on their way home from school.

The girls, both pupils at Chesham High School, White Hill, Chesham, were crossing the road at White Hill at around 4pm last Friday when they were in collision with a blue Ford Scorpio.

Both girls, aged 14 to 15, were taken to hospital but neither suffered any serious injury and were expected back at school earlier this week.

Tim Andrew, headteacher at Chesham High School, said: "I am pleased to say there were no broken bones or other serious injury and they were allowed home from hospital the next day.

"It was an absolutely filthy afternoon. It was dark and the rain was torrential. The girls were obviously very lucky it could have been much more serious than it was.

"The ambulance crew and the police were there very quickly. They were wonderful."

More than 1,000 girls attend Chesham High School and White Hill is known to be a busy road. Two special pedestrian areas have been added to the road in recent years after lobbying by the Chesham Youth Council.
