MARLOW fell to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Banstead in a high-scoring game at Oak Tree Road on Saturday.

All the goals came in the second half with the Blues twice coming from behind before Banstead, who were just one place above Marlow going into the clash, pulled away with two late strikes.

Despite Marlow enjoying the greater possession during the first 45 minutes, with the visitors restricted to just a few quick breaks, they couldn't make it count and paid for it in a high-scoring second half.

Banstead took the lead just three minutes after the re-start when Knight beat Gary Cockerill, who was standing in for Lee Carroll in the Marlow goal.

But Marlow levelled it within four minutes, when substitute Nicky Ryder buried the ball shortly after coming on.

However, Banstead nosed ahead again through Webb but Marlow pulled it back to 2-2 when Daniel Pedley headed home.

Marlow couldn't hold on to it, though, with Banstead reclaiming the lead with a 25-yard strike three minutes later and then extending the gap to two when Webb netted.

Robert Gibson made no mistake with Ryder's cross shortly before the end to make it 4-3 but Marlow couldn't add any more to take a share of the points.

On Tuesday, the Blues travel to Leyton Pennant.
