CHEF Nicholas Cooper will be staying in with his mum for the next six months after drinking ten pints and downing 15 cans of lager before kicking a man in the head.

The 23-year-old, of Bowerdean Road, High Wycombe, was sentenced to a six month curfew by Wycombe Magistrates on Thursday after previously pleading guilty to common assault.

Andrew Tanser, prosecuting, said police officers saw a scuffle in the early hours of May 13 in Corporation Street, High Wycombe.

He said: "The victim was propped up against a wall on the pavement with a cut above his right eye which was rather swollen."

The court was told officers spotted three or four men walking up the street and tried to find out who was responsible for kicking the victim.

Cooper was later interviewed and admitted having a scuffle of sorts and kicking him in the head, but said he had been "really stupid and had drank ten pints and 15 cans of Stella throughout the day."

Tiff Whillis, in mitigation, said that Cooper had been honest with police in an interview and told them "I had a few too many. It's all a bit blurry."

Cooper had said he "Woke up with a sore head and could not really remember "but he admitted kicking the victim, Mr Whillis said.

Mr Whillis said the others involved in the incident had been drinking and a witness said the victim slipped to the ground because of the drink.

Cooper told police he "definitely regretted what he had done", he had sorted himself out with a good job and had "just acted like a kid again."

Cooper was ordered to stay at his mother's house from 8pm to 7am seven days a week and to pay the victim £125 compensation and £69 costs.
