YOUNGSTERS from Cressex Community School are using all their energy to stop their families wasting resources around the home.

The school, in Holmer Lane, High Wycombe, is one of the first schools in Buckinghamshire to take part in Think Energy, a new scheme from British Gas which aims to involve youngsters in the largest-ever initiative surrounding attitudes to energy waste and efficiency.

Stuart Batt, the school's science head, said: "Think Energy will help everybody make a difference. We recognise the importance of teaching our pupils to save energy and treat our resources with respect."

The Think Energy packs from British Gas provide free classroom resources which enable teachers to deliver key parts of the curriculum, including maths and science.

The scheme also provides free home energy packs, designed to involve mums and dads, which include a home energy survey, safe LCD thermometer, energy saving tips and fun cards.

Every school and student taking part in the scheme has a chance of winning some of the following prizes, a £25,000 school minibus, multi media packages and bikes.

Mr Batt added: "By instilling good habits and information into people when they are young, we have some hope that future generations will have an environment they would want to inherit."

Other schools can register for the scheme on 0800 1388 100 or online at www.think-energy.com
