A COMMUNITY organisation has announced ambitious plans for a £50,000 regeneration project at a run-down recreation ground.

The Knotty Green Playground Association is working with the village cricket club to renovate a play area and pavilion at the cricket ground on Forty Green Road in Knotty Green.

Sue Beckley, vice chairman of the group said they had the full support of Penn Parish Council and would be sending out 1,300 questionnaires to local residents in an attempt to gauge public opinion.

She added: "We want a sporting facility and play area for the whole community.

"The questionnaires will be sent out to all residents living within half a mile of the site."

The group will be holding an open day at the site on May 12.

Mrs Beckley said that the group also wanted to convert a pond on the site into a feature and conservation area.

The group has been in consultation with Bucks Community Action and hopes to apply to the National Lottery for funding for the project.
