TODAY The Star urges the people of South Bucks to take to the streets in their thousands to honour the football heroes who took the town to soccer heaven.

More than 19,000 fans made the trip to Birmingham's Villa Park on Sunday and saw Wycombe Wanderers put on a brave display in the FA Cup semi-final against mighty Liverpool.

Our brave lads may have been narrowly defeated but this evening (Thursday) they will all be winners when they return for an open-top bus ride through Wycombe's High Street for another taste of glory.

Wycombe Wanderers' chairman Ivor Beeks said: "What these players have achieved is greater than anything achieved before. The support we got was unbelievable really and the players would like to say thank you to all the people who made it up there.

"It was 19,000 that made it up to Aston Villa and it would be nice if they all made it out this evening too. So, come on High Wycombe let's get out there like we did at Aston Villa."

Members of the public should arrive in the High Street after 5.30pm to allow the clearing up of the day's market.

The team will start the tour of honour at the far end of the High Street near the taxi rank at about 6.15pm and will slowly process along the road before coming to a halt outside the Guildhall, where speeches and presentations will be made.
