POLICE have given the thumbs up to a new security system which hopes to put an end to credit card fraud.
The new system, which has just been made available to businesses in Marlow, is an inkless touch pad for customers to leave thumbprints on cheques or credit card transactions.
PC Ray Reeder, crime reduction officer at Marlow Police Station, said: "It is a useful tool to fight credit card and cheque fraud."
Marlow Chamber of Trade and Commerce also welcomed the new gadget and encouraged members to consider purchasing it for their own businesses.
Colin Berks, president of the chamber, said: "We think this is a good idea."
Having been introduced in High Wycombe, the pads have proved to be successful and in America, where they originated, they are said to have reduced credit card fraud by 75 per cent in some areas.
