MARLOW Rugby Club's two new Croatian internationals made an immediate impact at Riverwoods last weekend as the Bucks side ran out convincing 47-12 winners against Witney.

Both Croatians Mike Lunjevich and Jaksa Lovreta contributed to a lively if at times scrappy game.

Marlow opened the scoring within five minutes with a well taken Murray Walker try which he converted.

Ross Coull doubled their advantage when he scooped up a poor Witney clearance and went over wide out.

But Witney were not to be denied and almost immediately their inside centre carved through the Marlow defence to score a converted try.

The set back only served to encourage Marlow to up the pace and Lunjevich touched down under the posts after some deft handling.

From the restart Marlow swept back up the field and Dan Sumpter, standing in at full back for the injured Ewen Hunter, sent James Dollery over. Both tries were converted by Walker to give Marlow a 26-7 half time lead.

Marlow began the second half where they had left off the first with crisp handling sending Dollery over for his second try.

Witney clawed some points back during Paul Sharp's ten-minute sinbin, but Marlow were never going to lose it.

Marlow gradually regained their momentum following Sharp's return and with ten minutes to go Lunjevich scored from a short penalty after he was clattered chasing a kick ahead.

With three minutes remaining Walker showed his class and touched down under the posts for his second converted try to cap a convincing win which went some way to wiping out the memory of recent defeats by Aylesbury and Slough.
