TWO more banks have been targeted in the recent crimewave affecting businesses in Gerrards Cross, leading to calls for the installation of CCTV in the village.

Two would-be robbers demanded money from a cashier at the Halifax bank, Station Road, last Friday afternoon.

One of the men held some kind of object up to the cashier and the other man jumped over the counter, kicking a bank employee.

Quick-thinking staff activated the security shield and one of the robbers was momentarily trapped by the device but managed to escape with his accomplice.

The two young men, who fled empty-handed, were seen joining another two males who were waiting outside.

All four then ran down Station Road, eventually disappearing into Marsham Lane.

The offenders have been described as black, mid to late teens and around 5ft 8in to 6ft.

In a further incident on Saturday night, two men attempted to break into Barclays Bank, also in Station Road, by climbing up to the alarm boxes which they tried to disable.

The attempt was unsuccessful and the two men fled as the alarm went off.

Police are searching for a fat, white male who was wearing dungarees.

The other man is described as slim with white hair.

These incidents follow a series of burglaries on shops in the village and another bank robbery two weeks ago, which have left local business chiefs calling for CCTV.
