TRACI-ANN Gendle will be embarking on a spiritual and demanding 12-day journey to raise money for charity.
Traci-Ann, from High Wycombe, will be trekking in lush forests, walking the high Tibetan plateau and climbing 5,050 metres to the top of Shung La pass in Tibet in aid of Mencap.
She said: "I am beginning a rigorous training programme at the gym and hope to raise as much money as possible for this valuable community service."
Mencap works with people with learning disabilities to fight discrimination and campaigns to make sure their rights are recognised.
Traci-Ann will be setting off in June this year and has to raise a minimum of £2,500 to earn a place on the expedition.
She is hoping for sponsorship from local companies to help raise the amount.
