ASPIRING barrister Mujeeb Pir ended up on the other side of the dock after being caught just over the drink-drive limit.
Pir, of Arnison Avenue, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Wycombe Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Ffyon Reilly, prosecuting, told the court police officers saw Pir's car wander across a lane of the M40 on four occasions.
She said he was pulled over by officers at 2.10am last Thursday when he was breathalysed at the roadside.
She added he was found to be just over the limit with a reading of 42 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Simon Graham-Harrison, mitigating, said that Pir only drunk two cans of Strongbow cider. He added: "He was very surprised to find he was over the prescribed limit and has learnt an invaluable lesson not to drink at all."
He told the court that Pir had recently graduated in law from Brunel University and was intending to become a barrister. He said: "His intended occupation has increased his sense of embarrassment and it is punishment in itself that he will have a criminal record."
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months with a reduction of three months on completion of a drink drive rehabilitation course. Pir was fined £120 and ordered to pay £55 costs.
