LEAGUE leaders Newbury proved too much for Wycombe Rye Ladies hockey team, who went down 4-1 to the highfliers on Saturday.
Wycombe started brightly and produced impressive periods of play during the first half of the Three Counties League first division clash.
But Newbury put the Bucks side under severe pressure, forcing them to concede too many short corners, which Newbury were able to convert into goals.
Sarah Pullman gave Wycombe some hope when she netted from close range but they were never able to reduce the gap further.
