I AM writing regarding the seemingly never-ending roadworks to lay cables.
I can only speak for Marlow but I'm certain that what I say is true of other areas. For six months now residents and visitors alike have been inconvenienced by cable-laying which, as far as I can determine, will be of no direct benefit to local residents but are merely for private profit.
Station Road, and now Dedmere Road, have been closed causing the residents to make irritating detours and adversely affecting local businesses.
We now have the ludicrous situation of previously filled trenches being re-opened to, I assume, lay another cable.
I know that other areas have been affected including the road between Marlow and Henley where there were six sets of roadworks at one time causing great inconvenience to people who have to rely on public transport
My local councillor advises me that permission to carry out these works can only be granted by central government remember that at the next election.
Remember also, when the representatives of the cable companies come to sell you their service, to remind them of the chaostheir companies have caused us and tell them exactly where they can put their subscriptions!
A Cummins, Newtown Road, Marlow
