WYCOMBE Wanderers are now just two points off the relegation zone after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Wrexham on Easter Saturday.

The Blues are currently fifth from bottom of the Division 2 league table with just seven games left to play.

Manager Lawrie Sanchez has been struggling to keep the team focused on their league campaign because of the distraction of their historic FA Cup run. They have had just one win in their last 11 league games.

It is now becoming urgent for the Blues to get back on track and Sanchez has been urging the public to get behind them as they try to steer clear of a relegation battle.

More than 19,000 Wycombe people turned up at Villa Park to watch their semi-final match against Liverpool and Sanchez hopes the interest in his team will continue at a high level to boost the gate at Adams Park.

About 5,500 fans turned up for Saturday's match but they were treated to a disappointing performance as the Blues failed to take control of the game.

Wrexham had a goal disallowed for off-side in the first half but went into the lead in the 52nd minute with a powerful strike by Craig Faulconbridge into the top corner of the net.

Wycombe brought on three second-half substitutes - George Clegg for Steve Brown and Guy Whittingham for Keith Ryan on 67 minutes; and Danny Senda for Dave Carroll on 79 minutes - but the equaliser didn't come until four minutes from time.

Chris Vinnicombe curled in a free-kick from the right wing which bounced in off the far post.

Wycombe play again on Easter Monday away to Bristol City - return here on Monday evening for match report.
