FURIOUS passengers would like to get around "on the buses" but say that new routes mean there are none coming past their houses.

The Arriva bus company changed the routes in the High Wycombe area on April 22 but some passengers are feeling like they have been left out in the cold, literally.

Pensioner Ivy Hathaway, of Underwood Road, High Wycombe, said that she used to get a bus direct to Mill End Road, in Castlefield, to see relatives, but now the service has been stopped.

She added: "We used to have proper buses but now we get those boneshaker things, which may be alright but I struggle to get my trolley on board."

The 78-year-old said the other problem was that the bus stops in town and she has to wait, sometimes in the cold, for another bus to go and see her friends.

Tina Thompson, who lives in Robinson Road, Loudwater, said that she has not had a timetable with the new routes and times posted through her door and buses have stopped going past her house.

She added: "We had the 301 bus I used to catch into Wycombe. They have taken this service away.

"Now I will have to walk all the way down to the London Road from the mobile home site which isn't too bad for me because I'm middle-aged but what about pensioners?"

However, David Shadbolt, spokesman for Arriva, said that they are still waiting to see that the new routes are working properly before they commit themselves to them.

Buckinghamshire County Council is also printing a leaflet within the next week to inform passengers about new routes.
