I WOULD like to use your column to warn all cyclists and pedestrians using the east/west cycle track in the Rye, High Wycombe, about the danger of loose dogs which are frequently exercised along this area.

Recently, while cycling along this track, I had the frightening experience of a loose Alsatian dog attack me.

Fortunately I was wearing thick trousers and the injury was a minor one.

On many occasions I have had dogs suddenly dash in front of me nearly causing an accident.

Other local cyclists that use the cycleway have told me that they frequently have problems due to loose dogs.

Now that footpaths in the countryside are open again, I appeal to dog owners to find alternative exercise grounds as the cycle tracks are totally unsuitable for this purpose. When a footpath is shared with a cycle track, dogs should be kept on a lead.
