YOU report (Friday, July 27) that proposals for traffic in Wycombe will be put out in the autumn for public consultation.

These, it is claimed, will improve conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and above all buses, which are for some reason the most important element.

One even more important group is missing from the list: the residents of the roads under consideration, whose lives will be most grossly affected if the plans mooted are actually put into commission.

The proposals put forward for Desborough Avenue and Marlow Road can in no way be described as "minor measures".

These would be major changes, and conditions for us would be insupportable.

We must be grateful to those local councillors who oppose the suggestion of "consultation" via website: many of us have no access or familiarity with such a facility, and if we had, what guarantee is there that any notice would be taken of our views?

As it is, the process is likely to fall far short of the face-to-face discussion for which we have been pushing, without success, for the past two years.
