WITH reference to Cllr John Rogers and Cllr Rick Gould's letter in the BFP on July 27 regarding Four Ashes Burial Ground.

I would beg to differ that this has been treated with compassion.

We who have people buried there were told in no uncertain terms that everything above ground level had to be removed or it would be removed for us.

While I agree a certain amount of rules and regulations have to be applied so that the resting place of relatives and loved ones remains dignified, I can see no reason at all why we should not be allowed to put flowers, planted or otherwise on our plots.

We have, incidentally, paid for these.

To have virtually just a field with plaques scattered around is unacceptable. How would you know whether or not you were standing on someone's grave?

You are riding roughshod over people and it can be for only one reason to cut costs, once again.
