FUN run weekend is here again, and activities start on Saturday night (June 16), with "Cops & Robbers" on the Common from 6-9.30pm. There will be music, fun and side shows for all the family, complete with a few surprises. Tickets are £2 (family ticket for two adults and two children £7) which includes food from the barbecue and there will be a bar. Tickets in advance from Ian Barnett on (01494) 816351.

ON Sunday (June 17) Penn Seven race starts at 11am and the fun run to Hazlemere and back at 2.30pm. In between, mini marathons for five to seven-year-olds will be held on the common from 12.30pm. In addition there will be the usual stalls, refreshments, barbecue and a giant inflatable obstacle course. All proceeds this year go to Oxford Kidney Unit Trust Fund.

SCHEDULES for this years village show, to be held on July 7, are now available in local shops and post offices. As well as the usual flowers, fruit and vegetable classes for adults, there are also craft sections for children up to age 13, and teenagers can enter the Young Cooks class with a pavlova filled with cream and fresh fruit, or make a working model. The mens cookery class this year challenges them to make a jam-filled swiss roll. Photographic entries are for "My best ever photo of a landscape" "my best ever photographic portrait" and a photo with a suitable caption (no pornography please!).

VOLUNTEER drivers are needed on two Wednesday afternoons a month to provide transport for elderly residents to attend the Darby & Joan Club held at the Parish Rooms. Pick up is at 1.30pm and the meeting finishes about 3.45pm. Please contact Harold Beeney on (01494) 813162 or Mavis Allen on (01494) 813585 if you would like to help.

IF you did not receive a copy of the Penn & Tylers Green Guide distributed with the April/May Village Voice, copies are available at the village hall.
