NAPHILL Fete was a roaring success last Saturday. Stalls were busy for several hours as a happy crowd wandered around The Crick, which was decked with bunting.

The organisers were delighted with the wonderful procession of floats, walking tableaux and fancy dress. The prize for the Best Neighbour went to Mrs Stella Page; in the fancy dress (under eight years) 1st prize: Kirsty Scott, 2nd: Imogen Hillier; in the over eights 1st prize: Marcus Scott, 2nd: Adam Grout, 3rd: Fay Johnston.

The playgroup won the Best Junior Float, and the WI and Naphill Neighbours tied for the Best Senior Float. The Best Walking Tableau was The King and I, and the Best Stall was won by the WI Souk (in Eastern Promise). The popular second-hand emporium took £676, and the total proceeds will probably at least equal the best ever previous result which was last year. The Village Hall Fund will therefore benefit by several thousand pounds.

THE Horticultural Society (Hortico) has a few vacancies for the coach trip to Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Sunday, July 1. Tickets cost £11 (OAPs £9) and are available by contacting 01494 563233.
