GERRARDS Cross strengthened their position in the Cressex Summer League with two 2-0 wins over Marlow B and Windsor Seconds.

They saw off Marlow with two second half goals in a scrappy match. Charlene Slater opened the scoring when she ran half the length of the field to score a solo goal and Gytha McBirney put the match beyond Marlow when she seized on a poor clearance to push the ball home.

Windsor were then seen off by the same score. Cathy Taylor was the difference between the sides as she scored twice from penalty corners.

In other matches, Amersham finished on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat.

They trailed to two Kim Beckett goals before Heidi Frick pulled one back from a penalty corner.

Amersham went all out for the equaliser but they had left it too late and Windsor held on.

Wycombe Rye Development beat Marlow B 2-0 with Ursula Bristow setting them on their way with a clinical finish.

Wycombe then created and wasted several other good chances before Ruth Leam doubled their lead by re-directing Jane Clarke's shot into the net.

Elsewhere, two goals in quick succession set Chalfont and Amersham on their way to a 3-1 victory over Wycombe.

Alison Spicer popped in the first and Heidi Jones hit the other shortly afterwards.

But Wycombe came roaring back and deservedly cut the deficit when Sarah Davidson hit the back of the net but Amersham had the last laugh when Cal Tomlinson restored their two goal advantage.
