A PUSH-BIKE enthusiast is calling on the public to help him get his penny farthing back after it was stolen from his garage.

John Davy, 65, was astounded when he realised his most treasured possession was stolen from his house in Birch Way, Chesham, last Wednesday at 10.30pm.

Mr Davy, a father of two, said he is desperate for the 24-year-old bike back, as he has lots of fond memories of the machine and was planning to hand it down to his son.

He said: "We loved our old bone-shaker. We bought it 14 years ago when the children were young. We were adventurous and we just decided to have a go at it.

"I remember it as a time for family enjoyment and we used to take it to shows. It was something we could all do together."

He added: "I would really like it back. Someone must have seen something. It is far too big to put in a car so they must have had a trailer or a van."

Also stolen from his garage was a 50-year-old butcher's bike with 'On yer bike' written on the side, and a selection of old ladders which he had bought from the fire service, when he worked in the London brigade for 30 years.
