HIGH-FLYING action has come to town to cheer up these dreary days in the form of the Moscow State Circus.

The circus is on The Rye, High Wycombe, until Sunday and is in town for the third week of its three-year tour of Britain. The new show features 35 cast members brought up and trained in the circus-loving country of Russia.

The circus, which does not feature animals, has all the traditional elements including a clown in a donkey costume and the internationally famous Sergei Jubanov who juggles with 30kg weights.

There is also the amazing Goussein Khamdoulaev who performs acrobatics on a high-wire reaching 45ft which circus-goers have described as 'terrifying'.

There's also ladder balancing and other acts, with a father and son clown team endearing themselves to the crowd.

David Clark, circus administrator, said: "The Russian state system has always supported their circuses, but with all the changes in that country no-one knows how long that will continue. It's possible that this could be the last ever tour of what is undoubtedly 'the greatest show on earth'."

Moscow State Circus has performances at 5pm and 8pm weekdays, 2pm and 5pm Saturday and Sunday. For tickets call the Box Office on (07721) 565557/8/9.
