FA CUP hero Roy Essandoh's Adams Park future could be over, just six days after he scored the most important goal in Wycombe's history.

The striker, whose injury-time winner at Leicester earned Wanderers a £600,000 semi-final jackpot, is unhappy at only being offered a contract until the end of the season.

He did not train with the Blues yesterday and checked out of Wycombe's Posthouse Hotel after being offered the nine-week deal by boss Lawrie Sanchez.

His agent Mark Steele told the BFP: "He's been offered a short-term contract which he is considering and until it is sorted out he won't be training with Wycombe.

"He has scored the most important goal in Wanderers' history and we were looking for a longer term deal than that."

Steele added: "It's a negotation process that's got to be gone through. He wants to play in the semi-final but, if it means missing out to get a long-term contract, that suits him.

But Sanchez says his offer for the player, who answered a Teletext advert to play for Wycombe, is final.

He said: "If Roy's got a better offer on the table I would say good luck to him. We've made him a reasonable offer.

"I haven't seen enough of him to make a longer-term decision and I don't know that if I had everyone fit whether Roy would be in my starting line-up.

"If he isn't training with us he isn't helping his chances. You've got to act like a professional. You don't want him sat at home contemplating."

Sanchez believes the player, who has played in Austria, Finland and Scotland looking for his big break, is happy with the deal and that it is his agent who is holding out for more.

Earlier in the week Essandoh said: "I'd like to be involved in the semi-final but I'm looking for more security.

"It's been the biggest weekend of my life. Money can't buy what has happened. I would like to stay at Wycombe and to get a contract here would be the icing on the cake."

But yesterday, he said: "I've got nothing to add at this stage. I'm thinking it over."
