THE school friends of tragic teenager Amy have arrived home to be comforted by their parents.

The seven sixth form students and teacher Hilary Brash, who witnessed the tragedy, flew into Heathrow at 8.30am yesterday.

They were accompanied by another teacher on the trip.

They were flown to Hanoi from Sa Pa by helicopter immediately after the incident.

But 25 Wycombe High students who were in separate groups are still in Vietnam and are being looked after by tour operators World Challenge Expeditions and the British Consul.

A Buckinghamshire County Council spokesman said that there was some difficulty getting the other students back quickly because of a lack of flights out of the country.

World Challenge refused to comment on details of the remaining students' return trip but said: "They are safe and well and being looked after."

The teenagers are believed to be in contact with their families and it is not yet known whether they will finish their expedition or return home.

The county council spokesman said of the group which has returned: "The children have been reunited with their parents."

He added: "They are being offered counselling and the education authority is concerned that their welfare is paramount at this stage."

The children were taken from Heathrow Airport to a secret location where they were reunited with their parents.

Amy's body will be flown back to the UK once formalities in Vietnam are completed.
