IN reply to the letter of Mr E.Suanksier (BFP.30/07/01) I would suggest that someone has not told him the full truth.

There is apparently a plan by Wycombe District Council to build a road on land at the rear of maisonettes occupied mainly by elderly retired people. This road would stretch from Hatters lane to Hicks Farm Rise running parrallel to St Hughs Avenue. The land in question is wooded and is home to deer, foxes, badgers, sparrowhawks, hedgehogs and a pair of Barn Owls.

Besides the conservation issue the question arrises as to the need for this road. We already have to contend with drunken yobs who when not smashing up the phone box use it as a toilet. We have youths racing up and down St Hughs Avenue on motorised scooters and drunks at the wheel of cars (usually stolen) that turn this road into a local version of Silverstone on Grand Prix Day.

For many years I looked after injured wildlife and consider it a privelage to be able to stand in my kitchen and observe the aforementioned animals no more than ten feet away.

I, along with many other residents both in St Hughs Avenue, Hicks Farm Rise and Hatters Lane, would like to know A) Why there has been no consultation

in this respect and B) why is the council selling off its blocks of flats despite an overwelming NO vote with regards to Wycombe 2000 ? I for one will do everything in my power to prevent this road being put through. I live in a nice area and I demand that it be left as such.
