FUNDRAISERS for Scannappeal are celebrating after successfully reaching the £300,000 target sooner than expected.
The charity, which has an office at Amersham Hospital, wanted to raise the money to jointly fund a £600,000 scanner with South Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.
The scanner will be used by all clinical departments at Wycombe Hospital. Fundraisers say it will make a real difference since scans will be quicker and more people can be treated.
Brian Rigby, chairman of Scannappeal, said: "We are immensely grateful to the many local individuals, clubs, societies, schools and companies who have enabled us to complete this appeal more quickly than we expected.
"The real winners are the patients who will have access to a state-of-the-art machine from this June."
Roy Darby, chief executive of the trust, said: "I am delighted that Scannappeal is continuing to support the trust. We could not do without them."
