FUNDRAISERS for the charity Scannappeal are celebrating after they successfully reached the £300,000 target sooner than expected.

The charity wanted to raise the money in order to jointly fund a £600,000 scanner with South Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.

The scanner will be used by all clinical departments at Wycombe Hospital and the fundraisers say it will make a real difference to patients since scans will be much quicker and therefore more people can be treated.

Brian Rigby, chairman of Scannappeal, said: "We are immensely grateful to the many local individuals, clubs, societies, schools and companies who have enabled us to complete this appeal more quickly than we expected.

"The real winners are the patients who will have access to a state-of-the-art machine from this June."

Roy Darby, chief executive of the trust said: "I am delighted that Scannappeal is continuing to support the trust. We could not do without them."

Gang show helps fund

SCOUTS, Guides, Cubs and Brownies put their talents to good use when they raised more than £1,000 for charity through their gang show performances.

The youngsters performed comedy, danced and sung at the five shows at Lancaster Arts Centre, Wycombe Abbey School, last week.

The shows brought in £1,200 in all for Scannappeal, and the money was the last payment to the appeal, helping them to reach their target.
