CONCERT co-ordinator Tony Hurst said the performances at the Evening of Musical Delights to raise money for the community centre were "out of this world".

Mr Hurst organised Saturday's concert with resident Barrie Penfold, who both put together a variety of local acts.

The evening took place at the centre, in Wakeman Road, Bourne End, with performances from the Claytons School Band and Choir, the Carolina Salmon School of Dancing, William Falconer on the piano, Circus Cyclists, Wye Valley School Rock 'n' Roll Band, Jack Dean, One Man Band Geoff Britt, Naval Cadet Band and comic compere Jimmy Findley.

Mr Hurst, 73, said the evening raised more than £600 and added: "It went very, very well. We sold a lot of tickets on the door and about 175 people turned up. The acts were totally out of this world.

"The school dance band was brilliant and knew all the dance music that I heard as a young lad."
