SALES manager Mark Girling is saddling up for a 275 mile Pedal to Paris to raise money for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.
The 42-year-old of Lansdell Avenue, High Wycombe, will be joined by friend Mick Keel and 150 fellow fundraisers on the gruelling bike ride, which will see them pedalling through rural Northern France and on to an exciting finish at the Arc de Triomphe.
It will not be the first time keen cyclist Mark has taken to the roads of Europe for Legion funds. In 1999 and 2000 he did a 200 mile cycle from London to Brussels.
"It's a fantastic challenge and I feel it is important that we remember the people who fought for our freedom," said Mark.
"I really wanted a challenge and the support network offered by the Legion on the ride was a definite incentive. I've been doing 20 miles three days a week and after so many early mornings out on the bike and down the gym I feel in good enough shape. It should be brilliant."
