DAZZLING designers at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College have completed prototype designs and are now going to go on an exhibition tour.
Vivien Cook, from High Wycombe, and Steven Savage, from Norfolk, received Audi Foundation grants to help build their prototype.
Vivien, 24, constructed a device that combines as a wrist watch and personal security device. Her device monitors the wearer's pulse rate and sets off an alarm should the pulse increase or drop significantly.
If the stand down button is not chosen by the wearer to be activated in situations where there is no conflict or medical problem, the device would initiate its global positioning satellite facility.
Vivien said: "By advising the emergency services at the time of an attack or medical incident physically taking place, there is a much greater chance of not only preventing assaults in the long term but also identifying those who carry out such attacks with greater ease."
Steven, 22, designed a lightweight bicycle trailer which can be used in congested towns, like High Wycombe.
The duo, recently on display at the university, have moved on to the New Designers exhibition in London.
