A COMPANY which designed a second building at West Stow Country Park is in the running for a national award.

TRADA Technology Ltd is being considered for a major projects award in the Timbers Industry Awards 2001 which recognise design and craftmanship in construction in the UK.

In 1998 TRADA in Hughenden Valley was invited to design a second building at West Stow Country Park, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, alongside the original building and to provide outside areas for school parties to meet.

A new building was set into the site so that the roof lines of the two buildings were consistent in height with European larch poles used for columns, external decking and sub structure with some of the more heavily loaded beams in European oak.

Competition assessors, including representatives from the Royal Institute of British Architects and English Heritage will visit West Stow Country Park later this summer.

A shortlist of finalists will be drawn up in September and winners announced at an awards ceremony in the City of London in the autumn.
