POLICE are warning elderly people to be on their guard after thieves, posing as water board officials, conned their way into the homes of two women in separate incidents.
Two burglars made off with a pair of tights after entering a pensioner's house on the pretence of checking the water.
The men called at the elderly woman's home at about 1pm last Tuesday saying they had to check the water.
They searched the house, in Coningsby Road, High Wycombe, before making off with a pair of tights.
The two men are described as white, aged about 17, with short brown hair which was brushed back. They wore plain blue pullovers, with white T-shirts underneath, dark blue trousers and white trainers.
Six days earlier on January 10, two thieves called at the home of a 64-year-old woman in Orchard Lane, Amersham, at about 10.10am.
They told the resident that they needed to turn her water off. Once inside the house they took a black leather wallet containing £100.
One of the men is described as white, aged about 16 and wearing a long dark blue anorak. It is thought they then made off towards Woodside Road.
