POP star Jay Kay may be preparing to put his £2.5 million mansion near Princes Risborough up for sale.

A friend of the Jamiroquai singer was reported in a national newspaper as saying Jay Kay was lonely in his luxurious home, Horsenden Manor.

Jay was apparently considering a move from his country house to be nearer the "action" in London.

The house, with its 70 acres, has supposedly become too big for one person following Jay's split from fiancee Denise Van Outen, now starring in the hit show Chicago.

Neighbours were reluctant to talk about whether Jay Kay was going to leave.

Anna-Lise Goldingham, who lives nearby, said she was unaware of any move but said it would be sad to see him go.

She said: "He's a good neighbour but I don't know anything about him moving."

But in an interview with another national newspaper, the Jamiroquai singer claims he is in love with the place and finds it increasingly hard to drag himself away.

Jay Kay moved to Horsenden Manor in 1995 and has been seen out and about in the area since at various times.

In April 1998, Jay helped out the area's community by donating his distinctive hat for a raffle to help raise funds for Princes Risborough School, in Merton Road.

He keeps his collection of luxury cars at the manor with an Audi RS4 Avant he bought in December last year bringing the number of cars he owns to 14.

Jay's love of cars even took him to the Silverstone track where he went for a spin in a Ford and was considered to be a very good driver by the experts there.

Speeding has been a problem, however. Both Jay Kay and Denise Van Outen were caught speeding by traffic cop Andy Brandish.

There were rumours about the couple's possible marriage at St Michael's, the tiny local church in Horsenden, after Jay was spied in the church after his engagement, though these were later shown not to be true.

But it has not yet been confirmed whether Jay is to drive out of town, leaving behind the countryside he loves.
