MARLOW Football Club's FA Vase hopes were dashed with practically the last kick of the game at Oak Tree Road on Saturday.

The Blues went out to an injury time winner from Northern League side Marske, who now go into the quarter finals of the competition.

The tie, played out a mud bath of a pitch, had looked to be going into extra time when Marske bundled in the winner from a corner in the one minute of injury time added on.

James Middleton was on hand to head home David Markham's corner after Marske pushed everyone up into the box in a last-ditch attempt to claim the winner.

And it worked, sparking wild celebrations from Marske's large travelling army to make their 500-mile round trip worthwhile.

Marske had enjoyed the better of a subdued second half and always looked dangerous on the break.

The first half, on the other hand, had belonged to Marlow as the teams engaged in a contest played with typical cup-tie fervour.

Both sides were reduced to ten men before the break when Marlow's Jeff Lamb and Marske's Mark James were sent off for nothing more than a bit of pushing and shoving.
