A MAN accused of causing the death of student Alex Shoulder has appeared before a crown court judge.
Ghazanfar Mahmood appeared at Reading Crown Court yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving in High Wycombe on January 18 this year.
The 21-year-old spoke only to confirm his name at the brief hearing.
He also faces an alternative charge of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Mahmood, of Roberts Road, High Wycombe, was released on bail and is due to re-appear at Reading Crown Court on May 30 to enter a plea to the charges.
University student Alex Shoulder died in hospital a day after being in collision with a car. The 19-year-old was injured in Totteridge Road, High Wycombe, and died in the intensive care unit of Wycombe Hospital.
He had been studying at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and was believed to have been living in lodgings in High Wycombe.
Mr Shoulder's family lived in Billericay, Essex.
