YES Mr Steel, your letter two weeks ago correctly identified my annoyance on hearing the pathetic catalogue of achievements by the town council outlined by the town mayor, Cllr Malcolm Dunlop, at the annual Beaconsfield town meeting.
Also my irritation at the manner in which matters raised for discussion at the meeting were handled.
The purpose of my previous letter was to report the proceedings in so far as they had not been covered elsewhere. Your letter added nothing further relevant to the discussion relative to the stewardship and wellbeing of Beaconsfield.
The initiatives proposed by the new town mayor, Cllr Nico Sacchetti, for the removal of litter from the streets of Beaconsfield are excellent and greatly welcomed. Let us hope these can also be extended to tidying up and more regularly maintaining the formal green areas, grass verges and roadside trees so that Beaconsfield residents can take an overall visual pride in their town.
It would also be good if the apparently lapsed tradition of Beaconsfield town mayors publicly sponsoring support for a local charity during their terms of office could be revived.
