HOLMER Green Upper School has won funding to run a Family, Sport, Health and Fitness scheme.
The school has been awarded money from the Monument Trust and the scheme will be managed by Education Extra to develop out-of-hours sports opportunities to promote sport.
To launch the project the school is holding a Family Fun and Fitness Day on July 7, to encourage sport in the school and in the community.
There will be an orienteering trail by Thames Valley Orienteering Club, as well as members of Reading Rockets Basketball Team.
Headmaster of Holmer Green Upper School, Stephen Box, said: "We already provide opportunities for children attending the school and the funding will allow the development of other programmes."
