STRUGGLING High Wycombe went down to another defeat on Saturday, losing out 3-1 to visitors Old Cranleighans.
The opening exchanges were evenly balanced with chances to both sides. After Wycombe keeper Ed Taylor had made a good save in a one-on-one situation, Duncan Parniss went close at the other end.
The decisive moment came however from former international John Shaw who found space at the edge of the Wycombe circle to unleash an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.
Wycombe proceeded to create numerous chances but with Dan Strange and Parniss failing to convert the opportunities it was the visitors who extended their lead just before half time as an incisive move sliced through the Wycombe defence.
The game appeared over when shortly after the break Shaw again found the net from a corner.
Wycombe to their credit refused to lie down and continued to create chances
at the other end.
They eventually reaped their reward when after a Strange shot from a corner was charged down the ball fell to Andy Burroughs who fired home.
Cheatle and Parniss both went close to forcing a close finish but ultimately it was a story of better finishing which gave the visitors the points.
Next week, Wycombe visit bottom-of-the-table Wokingham.
