A FAMILY'S pet cat has died after being shot with what police believe was a high-powered air rifle.
Hatty, a nine-year-old small tabby was shot in the Hillside Road area of Marlow on Saturday. Her owners noticed she was injured that evening and took her to the vets. The pellet was removed but Hatty died from her injuries.
This is not the first time an animal in Marlow has been killed with such an air rifle. Last June, two swans were shot dead on the Thames.
Kate Spark, police spokesman, said: "This was an extremely cruel and cowardly act which has resulted in the death of a family pet."
Any witness should call PC Richard Hodges of Marlow police on (01628) 816920 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
