A MAN was last night in a critical but stable condition after firefighters rescued him from a blaze at his home.

Graham Taylor, 52, who lives in a mobile home on Rayners Avenue, Loudwater, sustained 60 per cent burns to his legs, face and hands in the fire at 1.35pm on Monday.

Mr Taylor, who works as a van driver, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Wycombe Hospital before being transferred to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital which specialises in treating burns.

His wife, Jean, said: "They are keeping him sedated and there is not a lot I can do for him at the moment. I would just rather wish him better for now.

"The fire brigade saved his life."

When asked what had caused the fire his wife said: "It is too early to say. I don't know how it started."

Sub-officer Martin Blunden, from High Wycombe Fire Station, said: "He was conscious when firefighters Mark Skelcher and Ian Tapping found him."
